Tumbling Blooms

Hi there! Today I am bringing to you one of my absolute favorite combos inside my closet. I wore this look a few weeks ago to a birthday brunch & just had to share.

For starters, THIS SKIRT! Oh, I am so in love with it! It actually happens to be a May Designs fashion. For those of you who aren't familiar with May Designs, it's a company in which you can order customized notebooks, stationery, & now, clothes. What makes their clothes so unique is they have the same May Designs-original patterns as the notebooks. Also, my cousin (actually my mom's cousin-in-law) is Mica May, the founder & CEO of the company. When I was up in Austin this past Spring Break, Mica gave me & my grandmother a tour of their office & showed me their new clothing line.

In general, I love long bold skirts, but this one has a few things that really struck my fancy. For starters, it is made out of neoprene, the same fabric used to make wetsuits. This thick material gives the skirt a little bit of volume which I find kind of nice. Also, you can wash & dry it & there are no wrinkles! How great is that? And if I'm being honest anything that has big pockets, I am so down for.

Since the skirt has a busy pattern, I decided to go with a fitted, black, turtleneck top. To me, the high neckline makes for a very chic touch. As I have mentioned countlessly, living in a city like Houston can be a bit tricky when fall time rolls around. Dressing for the season and for the weather aren't always the same. With a short sleeve turtleneck top like this, you get the allusion of a fall look but don't have to suffer the heat of one.

I believe an outfit without color is one wasted so I slid on my fuschia mules for the added pop.
