Back to School Series // Earlybird Routine

I will be the first to tell you, I am anything but a morning person. At the same time, I wake up every morning before school at 5:30 AM. I often get asked, "Winnie, what on Earth do you do in the morning since school doesn't start until 8?!". Well, I thought I would just go ahead & share my school morning routine with you...

5:30 AM

Rise and shine!! This is where my day starts. I roll out of bed, brush my teeth, throw on some workout clothes, & head downstairs. Even though I am still half asleep my mom and I set out for a 2-mile run. I know this might sound utterly mortifying to my non-morning people but we find this to be the best time to squeeze in a little workout. Honestly, I often forget I even went on a run because I am partially asleep the whole time. Also, with various after-school activities, it's nice to get it out of the way.

6:00 AM

As soon as we get back, I hop in the shower.

6:15 AM

Once I'm done showering, I throw on my robe and meet my mom downstairs for breakfast. First things first--coffee. As I begin to sip my coffee, I will help make breakfast by preparing my oatmeal or toasting some english muffins. Then, for the next 10-15 minutes Mom and I enjoy our breakfast, get a little time to chat & wake up.

6:30 AM

Now its time to blowdry my hair. Protip: shower BEFORE eating breakfast. This way, my hair has a little more time to air dry on its own. I swear, waiting just 10 minutes before blowing it dry makes the process goes twice as quickly.

6:50 AM

Now that I have dry hair, I quickly throw on some makeup and my uniform.

7:00 AM

This is my favorite time of the morning! I have eaten & am dressed with hair & makeup done. I like to use the next 30 minutes or so to pick up my room, write in my journal, read my devotional, finish up a post, or even watch the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

7:30 AM

After enjoying a little me time, I make sure everything is in my backpack, fill up my water bottle, & go downstairs.

7:40 AM

Time for school! My sister & head out the door & go off to begin our days.
